AP known as out for publishing interview with radio host who died years in the past, points correction

The Related Press revealed a report Thursday about Miami conservative radio hosts objecting to the Democratic Social gathering’s push to purchase up Spanish radio stations within the space, and in some way featured a current interview with a well-known radio host who truly died in 2020.

The outlet confirmed the obvious discrepancy with a correction to its article two days after it was first revealed. 

In line with conservative commentator Giancarlo Sopo — who shared screenshots of the article previous to the correction on Twitter — AP claimed it had interviewed well-known Miami radio host Martha Flores for the article and stated her radio station was a type of that may be bought in Democrat-backed deal. 

Although as Sopo tweeted — and The Related Press later acknowledged — Flores died a while in the past.

Sopo tweeted, “I am so confused by this text. The AP says it interviewed Miami Radio host Martha Flores on Wednesday, however she’s been useless for 2 years. How the hell did they pull this off? Séance? An ouija board? Did they rent a babalawo to speak to her?”

Within the preliminary model of the article, the AP featured a quote they attributed to Flores, who allegedly complained in regards to the Democratic buy-up of Spanish radio

AP wrote, “Martha Flores, who hosts a night present on Radio Mambi, isn’t certain about that. She attended the information convention however declined to talk.”

Sopo added, “Context: Martha Flores was thought of Miami’s ‘Queen of Radio.’ She was a pioneer of Spanish discuss radio and died two years in the past on the age of 92. It was broadly reported on the time.”

Confirming Sopo’s tweets, the AP issued a correction to its unique article on Saturday. 

It acknowledged: “This story was first revealed on June 9, 2022. It was up to date on June 11, 2022 to take away feedback erroneously attributed to Martha Flores, former host of a present on Radio Mambi in Miami, one of many stations within the proposed deal.”

The correction added, “Flores died in 2020. The feedback had been made by one other lady. This model of the story removes these feedback.”

Sopo acknowledged the correction in his thread and added, “Whereas that is very humorous, in equity to the reporter, I can perceive how this confusion occurred.
